Is Group Therapy Right For Me?
Group therapy offers the unique opportunity to connect with others who share similar experiences and challenges in a guided environment. Engaging with others in a group setting allows you to gain insights not only from a licensed therapist but also from peers who are on similar paths so you feel less alone in your experiences.
Group therapy can be especially beneficial if you are looking to practice new relational skills in real time, develop a stronger sense of self, and grow your confidence around those who get your struggles.
At Glass Psychotherapy, we carefully structure our groups to provide an atmosphere of trust, respect, and confidentiality — so you will always feel welcomed and empowered.
Frequently Asked Questions
Group therapy involves a small group of individuals who meet regularly with a licensed therapist to discuss common issues and experiences in 90-minute guided sessions. It is a collaborative process where participants share insights, offer support, and work through personal challenges in a structured, confidential setting.
Group sizes will always vary, but most of our therapy groups consist of 6-10 participants. This size allows for meaningful interaction and ensures everyone in the group has the opportunity to share, while still being an integral part of a close-knit, supportive environment.
While sharing can be beneficial, it is entirely up to you how much or how little you contribute. Many participants find that as trust builds within the group, they feel more comfortable sharing — and sharing is often seen as a positive, cathartic experience. Your group therapist will always ensure a supportive, respectful environment where everyone feels safe to participate at their own pace.
You may start to notice improvements in your mood, coping skills, self-awareness, and relationships. Regular check-ins with your therapist will help track your progress, and we will adjust the approach as needed to ensure you’re meeting your therapeutic goals.
